(More customer reviews)I actually bought this one, as well as the full sized, pre-framed version. Both are beautifully done. If you have your heart set on the larger version, you cannot go wrong. It is magnificent. However, this smaller, 11x17 poster is quite striking in its own right.
In some respects, I really prefer the smaller version. Both use a similar frame, black and constructed of wood. It is very nice, but I think is a bit more becoming with regard to the 11x17. I assume this is because of the width of the frame. It is a bit thick, which really adds substance to a poster that would be a tad on the small side without it. This makes for a much more striking showing than if you put it up without a frame, or if you use a frame that is skinnier.
This is, of course, the classic Prom Night image. It features the ski-masked killer, clutching an enormous shard of glass. The inclusion of the glass makes all the difference, as it pertains so heavily, and with such poignance, to the story. I think it safe to say that the presense of that shard of glass elevates this to a whole other product altogether.
It is a metaphor, of sorts, representative of the fact that Prom Night is every bit as much tragedy as horror. You get the traditional slasher elements, with the mysterious killer lurking in the darkened hallways, and the countless red herrings, and the oblivious teenagers. But once you get to the end, and realize what you have actually been watching........there is an undeniable aura of pathos, and beauty, that sets this film apart from most others.
This film is one of my absolute favorites, and I could not be happier with either one of these products. However, this smaller version is every bit as good as the full sized version, and in some respects even a little bit better.
