I used the container to hold a DVD, a package of popcorn, and 2 packs of hot chocolate. I wrapped it all up with cellophane and a bow. It was beautiful! And they can use the container for their popcorn. I was very happy with the product for the price.

But the red coloring isn't colorsafe. After one use, you find your hands stained with a pinkish red wherever you touch it. Ended up being a waste.

The kernels are air popped, so not as fluffy which I didn't know before, but some people seem to like it that way. I expected it to be a little bigger looking at the picture. The wheel doesn't work, just there for decoration. It wasn't the greatest present to give for my brother's birthday.... but It'll do..

(More customer reviews)I just want to say that this is a cool popcorn maker. I have had mine for a couple months now and love it. VERY easy to do! Simply push a button, in a couple minutes, pour in one side of the popcorn packet (oil) then the other side (popcorn and seasoning.) A few minutes later bright yellow, popcorn appears. The popcorn mixture they sell is GREAT! You can use your own, but the premix they sell is very close to movie theater popcorn. (And cheaper than microwave popcorn!) The popper itself looks cool and is easy to use. The bottom cleans very easily, the cooking pot removes from the top for cleaning as well. I really like this popper!

I really think it is a feature to my training that draws my jewelers to training. Getting people to come to a volunteer training is not easy. (More customer reviews)The machine pops as described but unless you have never tasted popcorn cooked any other way you will see this machine performs that function poorly. The kernels are too tough and and I use orville redinbacher. This brand of popcorn cooked any other way would be light and fluffy not hard to chew and with many unpopped. I begin to see why they include an unpopped kernel catcher. The pan is too small so the kernels do not have time to fall back when pushed up during popping so they come out with the rest of the popped corn. Maybe too this is why the machine is no longer available here. I do not know why the texture difference though but must be due to poor design since as stated most other methods of cooking the same popcorn will result in melt in your mouth kernels..

(More customer reviews)Sitting on the counter, these look like regular cardboard popcorn tubs, but they are actually reuseable, washable plastic, which I think is much more economical than the throwaways. Unfortunately, my kids cracked even before I got to use it the first time. It is still useable though, even with the cracks. So they are decently sturdy, though are capable of cracking. Look great though!

(More customer reviews)This is the real deal. It's small and will look great on any countertop/bar top. We used Orville Redenbacher popping oil along with their kernels and within 3 minutes, our house was filled with the wonderful scent of movie style popcorn. The steam hits the glass and scent is carried away throughout your house.
It only accepts 1/4 cup of kernels at a time, so it does take a few sessions to really fill up the box...if that is what you are looking for.
The only downside we've noticed is that a lot of kernels come flying out of the kettle. Not sure why but we lose a very good portion of them when we pop.

The problem lies with the two plastic gears that turn the sweeper.Heat melted the way the gears are attached to the metal rods.I fixed mine with"Liquid Nails" but after further use the gears became brittle and cracked and I gave up. (More customer reviews)I love this popper. I was looking for a way to make homemade kettle corn & this is it. It is so easy to use. My 12 yr old makes popcorn by himself and my younger kids love to crank the handle. For kettle corn I use 1/2 cup Orville popcorn, 1/4 c white sugar(brown makes caramel corn) and a little oil, sprinkle with salt before serving. Dump all together and put on burner. 5 mins later you have delicious kettle corn. I highly recommend this if you are tired of microwave and really want delicious homemade popcorn. A little FYI we have tried the popcorn kit it comes with, while it is good(a wee bit salty in spots) it's really not all that necessary. You get delicious popcorn using Orville's and a little butter drizzled on.

I am on a diet, that allows me to have a snack of 6 cups of popcorn after popping. This makes the right amount (small bag of movie size popcorn). After the unit cool down, just add 6 oz. of water and turn back on for a couple minutes to boil water. Let it cool down again and you can empty the water and wipe it clean. The tray, i wash with soap and water after each use. It was worth the money.

Waring Pro WPM40 Professional Popcorn Maker Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Waring Pro WPM40 after happily using a West Bend Stir Crazy for many years. A few months ago we instituted a weekly movie night among some friends. When making numerous batches I found that the Stir Crazy had a problem with an unacceptable increase in unpopped kernals after the first batch. Purchasing two brand new Stir Crazy poppers did not resolve this problem so I decided to follow the Movie Theater example. After doing a bit of searching on the internet I was unable to find any informative reviews on this style of popper for home use. Without wanting to spend a large amount of money on the true movie theater models I settled on the Waring Pro WPM40 in part due to: it's more reasonable cost; it's close resemblence to the 'pro' models; it was being advertised by some reputable catalog merchandisers; and the Waring brand name.
The popper arrived in perfect condition and was assembled with little effort. Upon reading the manual and comparing it with the user instruction label on the door I found the two disagreed on the amount of oil and popcorn to be used. After numerous trial runs I was able to get mediocre results from it. Rather than use a half cup of popcorn I found that one third of a cup resulted in less unpopped kernals being ejected from the pot(which was still considerable). The problem with this is that it yielded just a small amount of useable popcorn so I had to make numerous batches(approx 10) to have a sufficient quantity for 4 guys(all healthy eaters). This process took perhaps 50 min to accomplish and afterwards the clean up was just as time consuming. After the 10 batches were done the pot was showing noticeable signs of burned on oil residue which required a couple applications of Easy Off oven cleaner. This entailed disassembling the pot and stirring mechanism. After that there was considerable work to clean the popcorn bits and husks(and oil) off of all the inside surfaces(it gets everywhere imaginable). The net result in my opinion, was that there was too much effort in the popping and cleaning processes when compared to the yield.
I decided to return the WPM40 popper and go back to the Stir Crazy(using two machines alternately this time since giving each sufficient time to cool after use appeared to increase efficiency on followup batches).

Whirley-Pop Theater Gift Set with Stovetop Popcorn Popper Review

(More customer reviews)Give the Wabash people a call. They will ask you when you bought the popper and they will register your product. Then they will send you a brand new lid no questions asked. They will continue to do this for the next 25 years. I wish the entire gear system was made of metal, but with impeccable customer service like Wabash provides, I can overlook that.
As for the popper itself, the other reviews pretty much cover it. More fun and healthier than microwave popcorn and easier to store than a hot air job. I use 1/8 cup olive oil to 1/2 cup popcorn and don't even bother turning the gear until I hear the first kernel explode. I'm hoping this will save wear and tear for next time. I melt a tablespoon or two of butter over the top just 'cause I like the taste and add a little salt right in the kettle (be sure to use a potholder...it's hot!). Once the popcorn is gone, I fit the lid back on and stick it back under the cabinet. I don't even bother to wipe it out. Keeps it nice and seasoned!
