Gold! Now that I have your attention turn it to a movie entitled GOLD OF THE SEVEN SAINTS, with Seven Saints being the name of a sleepy, dusty town in the middle of nowhere.
This 1961 Warner Bros. movie was taken from the western novel by Steve Frazee entitled DESERT GUNS. The black and white movie runs approximately 88 minutes offering the viewer a great outdoor adventure western, with the action filmed around Arches National Park, Utah.
The movie stars Clint Walker and Roger Moore with Robert Middleton and Chill Wills as great supporting actors. A western writer herself at times, Leigh Taylor Brackett wrote the screenplay, with director Gordon Douglas at the helm. Mr. Douglas had also directed both the earlier films FORT DOBBS in 1958, and YELLOWSTONE KELLY in 1959, both very notable films for Clint Walker fans. None of these films, however, are available yet on DVD, makes one wonder just what Warner Bros. may be waiting for?
As mentioned before, though fans of both Walker and Moore will enjoy all three films, it must be noted that GOLD OF THE SEVEN SAINTS was not a box office success.
Semper Fi.
